- AOV is designed to give clients the ideal combination of acoustic performance and wearing comfort based on their unique hearing loss and hearing aid configuration based on the ear anatomy.
- Selecting AOV eliminates the need to manually select the correct vent size for each client. This can result in a smaller and more discreet hearing aid
- HCPs benefit from select V. A review of internal data shows that hearing aids with AOV are returned less often than those with a manually-selected vent.1

Field Study: Biometric Calibration: improving directionality for Phonak Virto™ B
Kleine, T., Ochsner, G., Hoffman, C., Schumacher, D., Bishop, R. 2017

Acoustically Optimized Vent (AOV)
Phonak’s proprietary AOV, is an algorithm which takes into account the unique characteristics of each client. AOV considers the unique characteristics of each client, including the audiometric configuration, risk of feedback, likelihood of occlusion, benefit of direct sound, and the need for low- frequency gain. The proprietary formula then creates an individualized vent size specifically for each client.
What is AOV?
How do I use it?
- AOV is the default vent selected for all custom hearing aids and earpieces ordered from Phonak. This means you only have to select AOV on the order form to get the benefits of an individualized vent for your client.
